FootyOS Turn Up & Play (TUP) — User Guide

Halifax Friendly FC

What is this portal?

Turn Up & Play (TUP) is Halifax Friendly FC's casual football programme. There is no regular commitment — just browse the upcoming sessions, book a place, and come along. Sessions are priced per head and may be men's-only, women's-only, or mixed. This guide covers everything you need to register, book sessions, and understand how credits and cancellations work.

Getting in

TUP has its own login, separate from the club's main Player Portal (though your accounts can be linked — see below).

Go to /tap/sessions to browse upcoming sessions. You don't need to be logged in to see what's available. To book a place, you'll need a TUP account.

Already a Halifax Friendly FC player?

If you are a registered club member, you can link your TUP account to your Player Portal account in one tap. On the Player Portal dashboard, find the Turn Up & Play card and click Join TUP with my account. You're linked instantly — no separate registration form needed.

When you visit the TUP login page while already logged into the club site, you'll also see a Continue as Club Member shortcut that bypasses the login entirely.

New to TUP? Register here

Go to /tap/register and fill in the form:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Date of birth — you must be 15 or older to participate
  • Biological sex — we run separate men's and women's sessions. We ask for biological sex to make sure you can book the right sessions. Halifax Friendly FC is a welcoming and inclusive club — if you have any questions about this please get in touch.
  • Emergency contact name and phone number (recommended)
  • Medical conditions — anything the session organiser should know, such as asthma or a heart condition. This is only seen by session staff.

If you are under 16: an additional section appears requiring your parent or guardian's name, phone number, and email. They will receive a consent confirmation. Under-16s must be accompanied by a guardian at every session.

At the bottom, tick the fitness declaration confirming that you are physically fit to take part. This is required to register.

Click Create Account. You're registered and can start booking straight away.

Logging in (existing account)

Go to /tap/login. Enter your email address and we'll send you a magic link — a one-click login in your inbox. No password is needed. The link is valid for a short time; if it expires, just request another.

Section-by-section walkthrough

Sessions

The sessions page is the main page you'll use. It lists all upcoming TUP sessions in date order.

Each session card shows:

  • Session title — e.g. "Thursday Night 5-a-side"
  • Gender tag — Men's (blue), Women's (pink), or Mixed (gold)
  • Tournament tag — if the session is a mini tournament format
  • Date and time
  • Venue
  • Description — any notes from the organiser
  • Price — shown in green. "Free" if there's no charge.
  • Spots remaining — how many places are left. Once full, this changes to a red "Full" badge.
  • Waitlist count — if the session is full, shows how many people are on the waitlist.

If you have credits available — a gold alert at the top of the sessions page will tell you. Your discount applies automatically when you book.

Booking a place — click Book a Place on any session that has spots left. If you're not logged in, you'll be taken to the login page first.

Joining the waitlist — if a session is full, click Join Waitlist instead. You'll be sent an email immediately if a place opens up and you'll have 24 hours to claim it.

Booking confirmation page

After clicking Book a Place, you'll see a summary of the session details and confirmation of who you're booking as. If you have an active credit, it will be highlighted here.

Click Confirm Booking to finalise. A confirmation email is sent to your address.

If the session has a cost, after confirming your booking you'll be taken to the payment page on Zeffy to pay online. You can also pay on the day if the organiser allows it — check the session notes.

After booking

Once booked, the session card on the sessions page shows a green Booked button.

If you need to cancel, click Request cancellation, give a reason, and submit. The cancellation request goes to the organiser for review. Until it's confirmed you'll see a "Cancellation pending review" badge. You will not automatically be refunded — the organiser will handle any refund separately.

Waitlist

If you joined a waitlist and a place opens up, you'll receive an email with a claim link. You have 24 hours to click the link and confirm your place. If you don't respond in time, the place moves to the next person on the list.

While on the waitlist, the session card shows your position (e.g. "Waitlist #3") so you can see how close you are to getting a place.

Credits (discounts)

TUP credits give you a discount on a future booking. There are two types:

POTM credit (half-price)

If you win Player of the Match in a Halifax Friendly FC league or cup fixture, you automatically receive a POTM credit. This gives you half-price entry on your next TUP booking.

Your credit appears as a gold banner on both the Player Portal dashboard and the TUP sessions page. On the booking confirmation page, the discount is highlighted and a note says "Please mention your discount when completing payment."

Rollover credit (session credit)

If a session you booked is cancelled or your booking is cancelled by the organiser, you may receive a rollover credit to use on a future session.

Important: credits are not automatically deducted at payment — you need to mention the discount to the organiser (or it may be applied via the Zeffy payment link). Both the sessions page and the booking confirmation page will remind you.

Open Training (related but separate)

On the TUP sessions page you may also see a card promoting Open Training sessions run by the club for members and their friends. These are free or subsidised training sessions rather than match sessions. To sign up for Open Training, click the link to the Open Training registration — it's a different system from TUP bookings.

Key things to know

  • You must be 15 or older to participate in TUP sessions. Under-16s must bring a parent or guardian to every session; they cannot attend alone.
  • Biological sex is asked at registration for safeguarding reasons. Men's and women's sessions are gender-specific. Mixed sessions are open to everyone.
  • Credits are not cash. A POTM or rollover credit gives you a discount on a booking — it doesn't go into your bank account and cannot be transferred to another person.
  • Cancellation requests are not instant. You are still considered booked until the organiser confirms your cancellation. Don't assume you're off the hook just because you submitted the request.
  • Waitlist places expire in 24 hours. If you're emailed about a place opening up, act fast. After 24 hours the place passes to the next person and you drop off the waitlist.
  • Club members get a shortcut. If you're already a registered Halifax Friendly FC player, link your TUP account through the Player Portal dashboard to avoid managing two separate logins.
  • Sessions can be men's, women's, or mixed. The colour-coded gender tag on each session card tells you which sessions you can book. If you're unsure which applies to you, contact the club.
  • Payment is usually via Zeffy. After confirming your booking you'll be directed to the club's Zeffy page to pay online. Keep your confirmation email as your proof of booking.
